Day 1: Arrival in Arusha / Transfer to Meru Gate – Miriakamba Hut (Approx. 5–6 hours, 1,500m → 2,500m)
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your experienced guide and transferred to Meru Gate, passing through lush farmland, coffee plantations, and local villages. After registration at the park, the trek begins, entering the dense montane forest alive with exotic birds, monkeys, and tropical vegetation, gradually ascending the southern slopes. Along the trail, frequent stops are taken for hydration, photography, and acclimatization, allowing you to immerse yourself in the forest’s beauty. By afternoon, you will arrive at Miriakamba Hut, where tents are set up and lunch is served. Afternoon activities include short acclimatization hikes and exploring nearby trails, enjoying panoramic views of Kilimanjaro and the surrounding highlands. Dinner is served early, followed by a briefing on the next day’s trek, preparing you mentally and physically for higher altitudes.
Day 2: Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut (Approx. 6–7 hours, 2,500m → 3,600m)
The trek today ascends from Miriakamba Hut into heath and moorland zones, marked by giant lobelias, heathers, and volcanic rock formations. The trail gradually opens to reveal breathtaking views of Meru’s caldera, Kilimanjaro, and the Great Rift Valley, offering spectacular photo opportunities. Frequent stops allow for hydration, acclimatization, and wildlife observation, making the ascent steady and enjoyable. By afternoon, you will arrive at Saddle Hut, nestled between Little Meru and the main summit, offering comfortable tents and panoramic high-altitude views. Afternoon activities include short acclimatization hikes nearby, helping your body adjust to the thinner air. Dinner is served early, accompanied by a detailed summit briefing, including pacing, hydration, and safety strategies for tomorrow’s climb.
Day 3: Saddle Hut – Summit – Descent to Miriakamba Hut (Approx. 9–10 hours, 3,600m → 4,566m → 2,500m)
Summit day begins early in the morning, trekking through alpine desert and rocky ridges toward the Mount Meru Summit (4,566m). Along the way, enjoy stunning views of Kilimanjaro, Meru’s crater, and the surrounding Great Rift Valley, capturing unforgettable photos. At the summit, take time for celebration, reflection, and group photos, acknowledging your incredible achievement. Carefully descend to Saddle Hut, and then continue down to Miriakamba Hut, passing through alpine desert, moorland, and montane forest. Dinner is served upon arrival, providing well-earned rest and recovery, while your guide discusses the descent and shares stories of the mountain. The evening is a chance to reflect on the climb, enjoy the forest ambiance, and relax after a challenging day.
Day 4: Miriakamba Hut – Meru Gate – Departure (Approx. 5–6 hours, 2,500m → 1,500m)
After breakfast, complete the final descent to Meru Gate, passing through lush montane forests, rivers, and highland scenery, soaking in the mountain’s last views. Upon arrival, celebrate your accomplishment with your guides and receive recognition for completing the trek, including photographs and optional certificates. Transfer back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport, reflecting on the incredible landscapes, wildlife sightings, and the challenge of Mount Meru.
